• This testbed is maintained by the Building a Mind Lab at Indiana University. Our mission is to understand the origins of intelligence.
  • Our approach:
    1. Use high-powered methods to obtain precise benchmarks of how intelligence develops in newborn animals
    2. Use those benchmarks to build artificial agents (computational models) formalizing the core learning mechanisms in newborn brains
  • By reverse engineering the origins of intelligence in a newborn model system (newborn chicks), our goal is to discover general principles of how intelligence develops in all animals. These principles will illuminate how babies learn and provide benchmarks for building formal models of cognitive development.
